Youth Mentor
Program: H.O.P.E Youth Mentoring:
HOPE is a mentoring program that matched youth who could benefit from a positive role model outside of the family. Youth are matched in a 1:1 relationship with an adult who offers them guidance and friendship. The youth range in age from 6-14, and are referred to the program by local agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Spend four hours a month for a period of one year having fun with a child
- Complete monthly reports, and a 6 and 12 month survey.
Training:
- 2 hour interview (mandatory)
- 3 hour training (mandatory)
- Bi-monthly mentor get-togethers (optional)
- Staff are always available by phone or email
Qualifications:
Must be willing to undergo background checks and enjoy spending time with children/youth
Location/Time:
- 4-6 hours/month for a period of one year
- The program tries to match mentors with a youth in their community
*The program provides some activities free of charge or at a reduced cost to mentor pairs. We also can supply coupons, gift certificates, discounts, etc. on a first come, first serve basis. A newsletter for the program is also regularly sent out.
